When taking exams, some students get stressed. There are many strategies that students can use the manage their stress during an exam. It is important to learn strategies to manage stress so that the students can focus and concentrate on the exam.
- Take 30 second breaks during the test.
- Close your eyes and breathe. Take a few deep breaths. Concentrate on the air going in and out of your lungs and your lungs expanding with each breath. Taking long, deep breaths
will calm you and send oxygen to your brain. - I know this next one sounds weird but it really does work. Picture your eyes floating in water.
- Remind yourself that you can take this test. Remind yourself that you will pass this test. Remind yourself that you will do well on this test.
- Relax and know that this is not the end of the world. You will get through.
- Locate the tension in your body and slowly relax your muscles starting with your toes and working your way up to your neck and head.
- Try starfish breathing.
- Use guided imagery and image yourself in your favorite place. Think about what you would see, hear, smell, and feel.
