Subject Area Tutoring

We provide individualized tutoring in a variety of subject areas. Each student will receive one-on-one tutoring from one of our NYS Certified Teachers. Our tutors can assist students with homework, prepare students for tests, or provide additional support. We furnish resources to supplement any work the student is receiving in school.

Packages and individual rates are available. Rates as low as $55/hour. No contract. No commitment.

Our Approach:

  • Students will receive one-on-one instruction.
  • Students will learn how to organize, plan, and study to improve success.
  • Regularly scheduled parent conferences are recommended to ensure expectations are being met and support is being provided in the appropriate academic areas.
  • We keep in touch with the student's teacher or teachers to verify and maintain successful progress.

Our Pre-K program is designed to prepare students for kindergarten. Each session is 30 minutes long and incorporates a variety of activities. Students will be engaged and learning for the full 30 minutes. Students can participate in one or both of our programs.

Reading Programs

  • Letter Recognition
    • The students will learn the names of the letters, the sounds of the letters, and how to write the uppercase and lowercase letters. The student will also create an alphabet book.
  • Story Sequencing
    • The students will learn how to put the main events of a story in order.

Math Programs

  • Number Recognition and Counting
    • The students will learn the numbers, how to write the numbers, and how to express the numbers visually. The students will learn how to count up to 20.
  • Shapes, Colors, and Patterns
    • The students will learn the names of basic shapes. The students will learn the basic colors. Students will learn how to recognize a pattern and how to complete a pattern.
  • Calendar Skills
    • The students will learn the days of the week. They will also learn about the concepts of yesterday and tomorrow. They will know what a calendar looks like. They will become familiar with the names of the months, the seasons, and the major holidays each month.

All Elementary School tutoring is aligned with the Common Core Standards and include literacy, language, reading comprehension, writing, math, social studies, and science skills. Tutoring can also be customized and only include certain areas.

Our tutors use a range of modalities including visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and tactile. Visual learning includes the use of graphic organizers, visual representations, and videos. Auditory learning includes the use of verbal instructions, verbal expression of reasoning and discussion, and regulating vocal tone and inflection. Kinesthetic learning includes hands-on activities, using real life examples, and incorporating movement. Tactile learning includes the use of manipulatives, note taking, and artistic representations of learning.

Our Middle School individualized tutoring is designed to help each student succeed. Our tutors use a range of modalities including visual, auditory, and some kinesthetic. Students will use graphic organizers, visual representations, and videos. Tutors will also use verbal instructions, verbal expression of reasoning and discussion. Some subjects and concepts can include hands-on activities, the use of real life examples, and the use of manipulatives.

Tutors will help students with their homework, prepare them for quizzes and tests, and provide additional support for any concept they are finding difficult. Students will also receive help organizing and planning a study schedule. Students that struggle with note taking will also learn strategies to more effectively take notes in class.

Our one-on-one high school tutoring can help a student with homework, prepare for in class tests and quizzes, as well as the Common Core Exam or Regents Exam. All of our tutors are NYS certified teachers and only tutor in their area of certification.

Our tutors use a range of modalities including visual, auditory, and some kinesthetic. Students will use graphic organizers, visual representations, and videos. Tutors will also use verbal instructions, verbal expression of reasoning and discussion. Some subjects and concepts can include hands-on activities, the use of real life examples, and the use of manipulatives.

Students will also review crucial life skills including planning, organizing and note taking. We will also help prepare students to be able to handle the educational aspects of college independently. These skills will include time management, schedule creation, and organization.

Tutors can help students prepare for exams and write papers.  Our academic coaches can also help college students adjust to college life by helping them with time management skills, note taking skills, studying skills, and organizational skills.
